Hemerocallis fulva (front); Miscanthus sinensis, not full height yet (middle back)

HEMEROCALLIS fulva 'Kwanso' (Daylily)

Tall, orange and red daylily with good bud count for long blooming period. This one is has double blossoms, is very showy, and spreads. Good as groundcover. "Hemerocallis" is Greek for "beautiful for a day', which refers to the fact that each bud blooms for one day only. But many buds on many scapes means that these lovely, pest-free, easy culture plants are in bloom for quite a long time. Will grow in almost any soil, are reliably winter hardy, and form large clumps which you can divide after a few years for many more in your garden. A choice perennial.

MISCANTHUS sinensis 'Silver Arrow'

Good tall landscape plant that climbs to over 6 feet. (In this picture, it has not reached it's final height.) It makes lovely clumps of green and white striped tall grass with tall plumes. It sends up a 'flower' that turns golden in the fall/winter and dries nicely as a landscape plant in the winter. Cut it all down to the ground in early spring.
