Amsonia tabernaemonia (Blue Star)

Straight stems with clusters of pale blue, star-shaped flowers at the end grow in average, well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. It gets taller and wider each year (to 3 feet tall). The willow-like foliage is useful even after the flower clusters are gone (by the end of June). It's good as filler in bouquets. The leaves turn a lovely yellow in the fall.

It will self-seed in a happy situation, or you can split it in early spring after a few years if you want to increase your stock.
